Fishing Vacation To End The Winter Of All Winter Blues

The Winter

Are you stuck in the cold Northeast wishing you were on an island surrounded by warm water, lying on the beach sipping a cool drink, or maybe bobbing in a boat on the Gulfstream, fishing lines trolling behind the boat, waiting for the fish to bite? Make your dreams come true with an anglers dream vacation in Key West.

Captain Richard Houde has been a Key West charter captain since the mid-’80s and is very passionate about what he does. In fact, he was originally supposed to go back to New Jersey to begin his adult life, but 28 years later, he has been stuck here since. There was just something about the Key West waters and lifestyle that reeled him in here for good.

Key West is home to not only just one of the best fishing spots in the world, but it also has so much more to offer – from other water sports such as SCUBA diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and sailing to world-famous watering holes such as Sloppy Joe’s (made famous by sport fishing legend, Ernest Hemingway) and Margaritaville. Live music fills the air every night in Key West!

The Southernmost City also offers great casual restaurants and fine dining – and of course, almost every restaurant will be happy to cook your catch of the day! And the mate on your fishing charter will clean and filet your fish so that you can take it straight to the restaurant.

Key West also has a colorful history – pirates, wreckers, and sunken treasure ships – and the museums will take you back for a glimpse of the early, swashbuckling days. You can also tour some of the beautiful homes and gardens – from the Hemingway House to the Oldest House Museum, the local architecture reveals the island’s attractions and charm.

Come to Key West to see what all the fuss is about, but beware, much like Captain Rich, you might be tempted to stay longer than you expected.
